Tom Hanks, the most beloved man in the history of the world for obvious reasons, did something special on Thursday for the White House press corps, while charmingly making his political affiliation known.
The actor sent the team a brand new espresso machine (a stainless steel Pasquini, in case you’re wondering), along with a touching note, typed on one of his many beloved typewriters.
It read, “To the White House Press Corps. Keep up the good fight for Truth, Justice, and the American Way. Especially for the Truth part.”
This, of course, comes after U.S. President Donald Trump’s constant lambasting of reputable American news outlets, including the New York Times and Buzzfeed. But this isn’t the first time Hanks has sent over White House reporters a coffee machine, knowing full well journalism runs on caffeine.
In 2004, he gifted the team an espresso machine after discovering they’d been drinking vending machine coffee. “I hope this machine will make the 24 hour cycle of news a bit more pleasant,” he said at the time, according to a reporter on Twitter. “Add water, insert pod, press button and report. All good things. Tom Hanks.”
And, yet again, he sent another one when he visited the White House in 2010 and noticed the machine needed an upgrade.
